Pink Partition 11 is Fletcher Insulation's 11 kg/m³ glasswool batt, made to friction fit inside the stud cavity of metal framed commercial partitions. Made from up to 80% recycled glass.

The density is the specification

Partition batts are specified by density, not just by R-value, because the density is what the tested wall system references. Pink Partition comes in five: 11, 14, 22, 24 and 32 kg/m³. If a system report names a density, order that one. Substituting a different density into a tested system means the report no longer describes what you built.

Sizes

Five thicknesses, all 1200 mm long. The 50 mm R1.2, 75 mm R1.8, 90 mm R2.1 and 110 mm R2.5 come 450 or 600 mm wide. The 165 mm R3.5 is stocked 600 mm wide, 10 batts and 7.20 m² per pack. Fletcher say to install without compression to keep the R-value, so it needs a cavity that takes the full 165 mm. Pack coverage runs from 7.20 m² to 23.04 m², so check the square metre figure rather than the batt count.

Where it goes

Partition walls in multi residential towers, offices and commercial fit-outs. Non-combustible to AS 1530.1 and rated BAL Low through to Flame Zone in walls, floors and ceilings.

On site

Fitted before the sheeting, it generally stays put without fixings. Insert it into the open side of the channel with no gaps at studs, noggings or joints, and do not force it in.

Thermal

Nominal density 11 kg/m³
R-value range R1.2 to R3.5 m²K/W depending on thickness
Thermal rating method AS/NZS 4859.1

Fire

Combustibility Non-combustible (AS 1530.1)
Ignitability index 0
Spread of flame index 0
Heat evolved index 0
Smoke developed index 1
Bushfire areas BAL Low through to Flame Zone (AS 3959)

Early fire hazard indices tested to AS/NZS 1530.3.

Acoustic

Role in the system Absorbs sound inside the stud cavity of metal framed partitions
Typical uses Partition walls in multi residential towers, offices and commercial fit-outs

Thickness and density cover the acceptable forms of construction for sound insulation in the NCC. The Rw you achieve comes from the complete wall system.

Material and handling

Composition Glasswool made from up to 80% recycled glass
Moisture absorption Under 0.2% by volume after four days at 50 °C and 95% relative humidity
Fungi resistance Pass, no growth (ASTM C1338-14)
Widths Sized to suit standard steel stud spacings

Compliance

Thermal rating Complies with AS/NZS 4859.1
NCC 2022 AS/NZS 4859.1 per Volume 1 J4D3(1) and Volume 2 Housing Provisions 13.2.2(1)
NCC 2019 sound insulation Thickness and density cover Volume 1 Specification F5.2 and Volume 2 clause 3.8.6.1
Certification CodeMark Certificate of Conformity CM 30006
Bushfire Meets AS 3959 BAL Low to Flame Zone in walls, floors and ceilings

Compliance applies when the product is correctly specified and installed.

Fitting notes

Made to friction fit between steel studs. Insert it into the open side of the channel so it fits snugly, with no gaps between the batt and the studs or noggings, and butt the edges closely so there are no gaps at joints. Do not stuff or force it into the wall or let it protrude past the studs. Fill small spaces with a single offcut rather than several small pieces. Install it without compression to keep its claimed R-value. It generally stays in place when fitted before the wall sheeting goes on. If it will be left unsupported for a long time, hold it with stringing such as PVC tape. Keep it dry before, during and after installation.

Figures are taken from the Fletcher Insulation technical data sheet for Pink Partition, Revision 7, issued 18 March 2025. The full manufacturer document is linked above. Fletcher can change specifications without notice, so check the current sheet before specifying on a job.
