Pink Partition 14 is a 14 kg/m³ glasswool batt for the stud cavity of metal framed commercial partitions, made from up to 80% recycled glass. It sits between the 11 and 24 kg/m³ grades.
Order by the density the system names
A tested partition system specifies the batt density. 14 kg/m³ is a common call in commercial fit-outs, but it is not interchangeable with 11 or 24 just because the R-value looks close. If the report says 14, order 14.
Sizes
Three thicknesses, each in 450 mm and 600 mm widths at 1200 mm long: 50 mm at R1.3, 75 mm at R1.9 and 90 mm at R2.2. Pack coverage runs from 7.56 m² to 17.28 m² depending on the combination.
Where it goes
Partition walls in multi residential towers, offices and commercial fit-outs. Non-combustible to AS 1530.1 and rated BAL Low through to Flame Zone in walls, floors and ceilings.
On site
Friction fits between steel studs without fixings once cut to width. Cut a few millimetres oversize rather than undersize, since the fit is what holds it and an edge gap undoes the acoustic work.

Acoustic
| Role in the system | Absorbs sound inside the stud cavity of metal framed partitions |
|---|---|
| Typical uses | Partition walls in multi residential towers, offices and commercial fit-outs |
Thickness and density cover the acceptable forms of construction for sound insulation in the NCC. The Rw you achieve comes from the complete wall system.
Material and handling
| Composition | Glasswool made from up to 80% recycled glass |
|---|---|
| Moisture absorption | Under 0.2% by volume after four days at 50 °C and 95% relative humidity |
| Fungi resistance | Pass, no growth (ASTM C1338-14) |
| Widths | Sized to suit standard steel stud spacings |
Compliance
| Thermal rating | Complies with AS/NZS 4859.1 |
|---|---|
| NCC 2022 | AS/NZS 4859.1 per Volume 1 J4D3(1) and Volume 2 Housing Provisions 13.2.2(1) |
| NCC 2019 sound insulation | Thickness and density cover Volume 1 Specification F5.2 and Volume 2 clause 3.8.6.1 |
| Certification | CodeMark Certificate of Conformity CM 30 |
| Bushfire | Meets AS 3959 BAL Low to Flame Zone in walls, floors and ceilings |
Compliance applies when the product is correctly specified and installed.
Fitting notes
Made to friction fit between steel studs, so it stays put without fixings once cut to the right width. Cut it a few millimetres oversize rather than undersize and press the edges into the flanges so there is no air path down the side. Keep the batt at full thickness. Compressing it into a narrower cavity loses both the R-value and the acoustic benefit. Store it dry and flat until it goes in.
