AGFT100 is a 100 mm wide aluminium and glass cloth tape with a flame retardant solvent acrylic adhesive on one side and an easy release silicone liner. 50 m roll, 12 rolls to a carton.
The wide one, for blanket and board
Most foil tapes are 48 or 72 mm and are made for membrane laps. This is 100 mm and is made for the seams that need real coverage: alu-glass faced fibreglass blanket, soffit board joints, and industrial pipe insulation seams and connections. The glass cloth in the backing is what lets it hold a wide seam without stretching.
Fire rated
Class 0 and 25/50 to BS 476 Parts 6 and 7 and UL 723, with a flame retardant adhesive. That is the reason it appears on plant room and duct specifications rather than a plain foil tape.
Holding power
Adhesion to steel is 72 oz per inch, tensile strength 116 lb per inch and elongation only 5%, so it grips hard and does not creep. Service temperature runs from minus 30 to plus 120 degrees, and it has a low moisture vapour transmission rate, which is what stops condensation forming at the seam.
On site
Peel the liner and apply. No mechanical fixing is needed. The surface must be clean and dry.

Fitting notes
Remove the paper liner and apply directly. No mechanical fixing is needed. The surface must be clean and dry. The tape conforms to irregular surfaces, so work it into the profile of the seam rather than bridging it.

Common questions
How is this different from a normal foil tape?
It is 100 mm wide, the backing has glass cloth in it and the adhesive is flame retardant. It is aimed at insulation blanket and board seams and industrial pipe work rather than at building membrane laps.
Is it fire rated?
Class 0 and 25/50 to BS 476 Parts 6 and 7 and UL 723.
What temperature can it take?
Minus 30 to plus 120 degrees in service.
Will it stretch on a long seam?
Elongation is only 5%, which is very low for a tape. That is what the glass cloth is doing.
Does it stop condensation at the seam?
It has a low moisture vapour transmission rate, which is what a vapour sealed seam needs. The rest of the insulation system has to be detailed correctly as well.
How is it supplied?
Sold per 50 m roll. There are 12 rolls in a carton.
