Bradford Glasswool Building Blanket is the general purpose foil faced blanket in the Bradford range. It carries the widest R-value spread we stock, from R1.3 at 60 mm up to R3.6 at 145 mm, across nine roll sizes.
Building Blanket or Anticon
The two look similar on the shelf, but the data sheets are not making the same claims. Bradford quotes Anticon for condensation control and rates it for bushfire areas from BAL 12.5 through to Flame Zone. The Building Blanket sheet carries neither of those claims. What it is quoted for is thermal and acoustic performance, non-combustibility to AS 1530.1, and higher R-values where the build-up is tight. So if the job needs a BAL rating, or you are detailing specifically against condensation, specify Anticon. If it does not, the Building Blanket covers the same thermal job.
Choosing a roll
Coverage falls as thickness climbs. A 15 m roll at 60 mm covers 18 m², while a 7.5 m roll at 145 mm covers 9 m². Measure the roof area, divide by the roll coverage and allow for laps and waste. How much insulation do I need has a worked example.
Where it goes
Over the purlins or battens, under metal roof sheeting. Thermal rating is declared to AS/NZS 4859.1 by the manufacturer. Blanket, sarking or batts sets out which of the three belongs where, and R-value by climate zone covers how the required number gets set in the first place.
