Bradford Anticon light duty is a foil faced glasswool blanket that goes under a metal roof, over the purlins or battens. One layer handles thermal performance, condensation control and roof noise.
Light, medium or heavy duty
The glasswool is the same across all three. What changes is how tough the foil facing is. Light duty suits normal residential roofs where nothing walks on the blanket once it is laid. Step up to medium duty when the blanket takes more handling on site, or heavy duty where it stays exposed or gets trafficked during the install. Pick the duty on how rough the job is, then pick the R-value separately.
Which R-value
Nine options, from R1.3 at 60 mm through to R3.6 at 145 mm. The figure on the roll is the material R-value of the blanket on its own, not the number the finished roof achieves. Compression over a purlin or over safety mesh pulls the real figure down, which is the reason spacers exist. Roofing blanket R-values explains the gap between the two numbers.
Condensation
A metal roof that drips on a clear morning is not leaking, it is sweating. The blanket and its foil face keep warm inside air away from the cold underside of the sheet, which is where the moisture forms. Condensation in metal roofs covers the mechanism and what NCC 2022 asks for.
Ordering
Sold by the roll, 1200 mm wide. Coverage drops as thickness climbs. A 15 m roll at 60 mm covers 18 m², a 7.5 m roll at 145 mm covers 9 m². Work from the roof area and allow for laps and waste. How much insulation do I need has a worked example.
Suitable for BAL 12.5 through to Flame Zone on metal roofs when installed to specification. Every size, its coverage and the CSR product code are in the table below. New to roofing blankets? Start with what a roofing blanket is and how it works.
