Trade Select Wall Wrap xR Micro-perforated HD is the wall wrap Ametalin built for brick veneer and drained cavity walls. It is vapour permeable and double sided reflective at the same time, which is an unusual combination and the reason it costs more than a plain breather wrap.
Permeable and reflective together
The micro-perforation pattern gives Class 4 vapour permeance at 1.450 µg/N·s, so indoor water vapour can pass out into the cavity rather than condensing inside the wall. Both faces are reflective, 0.05 anti-glare and 0.03 foil, so the cavity between the frame and the brick leaf turns into a reflective air space. Ametalin declare RT 1.72 winter for a brick veneer wall with the wrap alone, and RT 3.40 winter with an R2.7 batt added.
Not a water barrier
Read this part carefully. It is classified Non-Water Barrier. Perforating a membrane to let vapour out also lets liquid water through, so this belongs behind a masonry leaf or a drained cavity where the outer skin sheds the rain. It is not the wrap for a direct fixed cladding wall. Use the Class 2 Trade Select Wall Wrap or the Wall Wrap Micro-perforated range there instead.
Heavy duty
Tensile strength 15.3 kN/m machine direction against a 12.5 kN/m minimum, edge tear 499 N against 80 N, thickness 0.12 mm. It is an air barrier, and flammability index is Low, at or below 5, with compliance to AS 3959-2018 for all BALs.
On site
Keep the cavity clear so the reflective faces have air in front of them and the drainage path stays open. The wrap is electrically conductive, so keep it clear of wiring. Install to AS 4200.2. Full figures are in the table below.

Fitting notes
Install to AS 4200.2 Pliable Building Membranes and Underlays, Part 2, in a brick veneer or drained cavity wall. Keep the cavity clear so the reflective faces see air and the drainage path stays open. The product is electrically conductive, so keep it clear of wiring. Store the rolls undercover in a clean dry place in the pack provided, away from cement, mortar and other alkaline products.

Common questions
Can I use this behind direct fixed cladding?
No. It is classified Non-Water Barrier, so it needs a masonry leaf or a drained cavity in front of it to shed the rain. Behind direct fixed cladding use a water barrier wrap instead.
What does xR add?
Extra R-value from a second reflective face. Both sides are low emittance, 0.05 and 0.03, so the cavity between the frame and the brick leaf works as a reflective air space. Ametalin declare RT 1.72 winter for the wall with the wrap alone.
Is it vapour permeable?
Yes, Class 4 at 1.450 µg/N·s, the most permeable class. The micro-perforations let indoor water vapour move out into the cavity.
What is the point of a permeable wrap in a brick veneer wall?
It lowers the risk of interstitial condensation. Vapour that reaches the wrap from inside passes through instead of condensing on a cold barrier inside the wall.
How much wall does one roll cover?
1350 mm x 30 m, 40.5 m² before laps. The Ametalin sheet rounds this to 40 m².
Can I use it in a bushfire area?
Yes. Flammability index Low, at or below 5, and it complies with AS 3959-2018 for all BALs. Take independent advice on membrane selection before locking in the BAL design.
