R5.0 HP Bradford Gold is a high density non-combustible glasswool ceiling batt at 240 mm. HP means the glasswool is packed denser, which is how it reaches R5.0 without the batt getting any deeper than it has to.
What HP is for
Two situations. Either the build-up is tight and you need more R-value out of the depth available, or the climate zone is demanding enough that the standard range runs out. If neither applies, R4.1 standard Gold at 215 mm covers the same ceiling for less. R-value by Australian climate zone covers how the requirement is set in the first place.
Sizes
Eight batts per pack, 1160 mm long. The 430 mm width covers 3.99 m² and the 580 mm covers 5.38 m². Coverage per pack keeps falling as the R-value climbs, so budget for more packs than a standard R3.5 job would need over the same ceiling.
On site
Check the depth before you order. At 240 mm the batt needs genuine clearance, especially near the eaves. Friction fit between the joists, butt the ends, no gaps, and do not compress it, because a compressed high density batt gives up the very thing you paid for. Keep the clearances downlights and flues require.
