R4.1 Bradford Gold is a non-combustible glasswool ceiling batt at 215 mm thick, the top of the standard Gold ceiling range before the higher density HP batts take over.
Depth is the thing to check first
At 215 mm this batt needs real room above the ceiling. If the roof space pinches down at the eaves, or there is ductwork or a flue running through, check the actual clearance before ordering rather than after. A batt squashed to fit is not delivering R4.1, and at this thickness there is more to lose.
Sizes
Ten batts per pack in both widths at 1160 mm long: 430 mm covering 4.99 m² and 580 mm covering 6.73 m². Coverage per pack drops as the batts get thicker, so a high R spec means more packs for the same ceiling. Coverage per pack explained covers the arithmetic.
Or step across to HP
If you want a higher R-value without more depth, the HP batts are higher density and lift the R-value for the same or tighter build-up. R5.0 HP is the next one up. Whether you need it comes down to climate zone and the rest of the build-up, which R-value by Australian climate zone works through.
On site
Friction fit between the joists, butt the ends, leave no gaps, and keep whatever clearance the downlights and flues require.
Thermal rating declared to AS/NZS 4859.1 by the manufacturer. Sizes and CSR product codes are in the table below.
