MetecnoTherm R4.30 is a 100 mm rigid polyisocyanurate board with a flexible foil facing on both sides, made by Metecno in Australia. Board size 2400 x 1200 mm, 2.88 m² per board. Priced per board.

What 100 mm buys you

Declared R4.30 at 23 degrees, or R4.50 at 15 degrees. In a wall the certified total rises to R4.66 at 15 degrees, and in a ceiling to R4.65. This is the thickest stocked board, R4.3, for the jobs where a batt would need more than 200 mm to match it.

Against a batt

Thermal conductivity is 0.024 W/m·K, roughly half that of glasswool. To reach R4.30 with a glasswool batt you would be looking at about 220 mm of depth instead of 100 mm. That is the whole reason a rigid board gets specified: the cavity depth is fixed and the batt cannot get there.

Fire, stated plainly

Group Number 2 with the embossed foil face, tested to AS ISO 9705 and assessed to AS 5637.1:2015. The CodeMark certificate also states it has not been tested to AS 1530.1 and cannot be treated as non-combustible. If the job needs non-combustible material, this is not the board for it. As an internal wall or ceiling lining the Group Number has to satisfy Table S7C4 of Specification 7, NCC Volume One.

Ordering

Sold per board. A full pallet is 11 boards, 31.68 m². Metecno make the range in 5 mm increments and in white, black, plasterboard and fibre cement faced versions, all to order. Ask us for anything not listed, or for pallet freight on a large order.

Fitting notes

Installation must follow the MetecnoTherm Design and Install Guide version 5, which the CodeMark certificate names as a condition of the certification. Structural support members are designed separately by the building designer or engineer. Cut the boards cleanly and butt the joints tight, because a rigid board loses more to a gap than a batt does. Where the board is an internal lining, check the Group Number requirement for that room before specifying.

Figures are taken from the Metecno CodeMark Certificate of Conformity CM40415-I01-R01, issued 3 March 2026, which carries the certified product technical data in Appendix A. Product code, pallet quantity and pricing are from the RM Industries price list of May 2026. The certificate is linked above.

Common questions

What R-value do I actually get with 100 mm?

R4.30 declared at 23 degrees for the board on its own. Inside a wall element the certified total is R4.66 at 15 degrees, and in a ceiling R4.65, because the adjacent air spaces add to it.

Is MetecnoTherm non-combustible?

No, and the certificate says so directly. It has not been tested to AS 1530.1 and cannot be considered a non-combustible product. Its Group Number is 2 with the embossed foil face.

How thick would a batt need to be to match 100 mm of this?

Roughly about 220 mm. PIR is about 0.024 W/m·K against roughly 0.044 for glasswool, so it does the same job in about half the depth.

Am I buying one board or a pack?

One board, 2400 x 1200 mm, 2.88 m². A full pallet is 11 boards or 31.68 m² if you need that quantity.

Can I use it as an internal lining?

Only where Group Number 2 satisfies Table S7C4 of Specification 7 in NCC Volume One 2022 for that use. Metecno also make plasterboard and fibre cement faced versions that achieve Group 1.

Can I get a different facing or thickness?

Metecno make the range in 5 mm increments, and in white or black facing at a 25 percent surcharge on a four week lead time. Plasterboard and fibre cement faced versions are also available. Contact us for a quote.

How many boards do I need?

Divide the area by 2.88 m² and round up, then allow for cuts at openings and edges. A rigid board wastes more at a complicated perimeter than a batt does.
