Bradford Optimo sub-floor fixings hold underfloor batts in place. Saddles for R2.5 at 70 x 45.2 mm and straps at 190 x 20 mm, both 250 per pack.
Underfloor insulation is the one working against gravity
A wall or ceiling batt is supported by the structure around it. A floor batt is not. Friction fit gets it in position on the day, but over years, with vibration and airflow beneath, unsupported batts sag and eventually drop. A sagging batt is not delivering its R-value, and nobody notices because it is out of sight.
Saddles or straps
Saddles push up into the joist bay from below to hold the batt against the floor. Straps run across the underside. Which you use depends on joist spacing and access, and both fix with standard fasteners.
