Bradford Anticon heavy duty is a foil faced glasswool blanket for metal roofs, carrying the toughest facing in the Anticon range. It lays over the purlins or battens and covers thermal performance, condensation control and roof noise in the one layer.

When you need heavy duty

The glasswool is the same across all three grades. Only the facing changes. Light duty is fine on a normal residential roof where nothing touches the blanket once it is laid, and medium duty handles ordinary site handling. Heavy duty is for the jobs that punish the facing: long runs pulled over safety mesh, blanket left exposed while the sheeting is staged, or a crew working across it. A torn facing is not just cosmetic, because the foil face is the part doing the condensation work.

Which R-value

Six options, from R1.3 at 60 mm up to R3.0 at 130 mm, plus a 145 mm roll. The figure on the roll is the material R-value of the blanket on its own, not what the finished roof reaches, because a blanket compressed over a purlin or over mesh no longer sits at its rated thickness. Roofing blanket R-values covers the difference and where spacers come in.

Bushfire

Bradford rates Anticon for BAL 12.5 through to Flame Zone on metal roofs when installed to specification, which is the widest bushfire range in the blankets we stock. If the site sits in a designated bushfire area, confirm the required BAL rating before choosing on price.

Ordering

Sold by the roll, 1200 mm wide. A 15 m roll at 60 mm covers 18 m², a 7.5 m roll at 145 mm covers 9 m². Coverage falls as the blanket gets thicker, so a thicker spec means more rolls for the same roof area. How much insulation do I need works through the arithmetic.

Every size, its coverage and the CSR product code are in the table below. For where the blanket sits against mesh, spacers and sheeting, see Metal roof insulation in Australia.
