Trade Select VapourTech Wall is a Class 4 vapour permeable residential wall wrap, 1500 mm x 30 m covering 45 m² at 0.45 mm thick. Light Wall duty to AS/NZS 4200.1:2017.

Highly permeable, by design

Vapour permeance is 3.764 µg/N·s, which is high even for a Class 4 membrane. The wall can dry outward readily, while the wrap still works as a water barrier to AS/NZS 4201.4 and as an air barrier. In a residential wall that is usually what you want, because the moisture load comes from inside the house.

Non-reflective, so simpler to detail

Emittance is 0.58 and 0.56 on the two faces, category NN. It does not work by reflection, so there is no air gap to preserve and it can sit directly against the frame. It is also non-conductive, unlike a foil wrap.

Strength

Ball burst 215 N against a 200 minimum, edge tear 189 N machine direction against a 45 minimum, and 0.0% shrinkage against a 0.5% limit. Flammability classification Low.

Moisture and air control

Vapour control Class 4 vapour permeable (ASTM E96)
Vapour permeance 3.7640 µg/N·s
Water control Water barrier (AS/NZS 4201.4)
Air control Air barrier

A Class 4 wrap lets the wall cavity dry outwards, which matters most in the cooler and mixed climate zones where condensation risk sits inside the frame.

Fire

Flammability classification Low, 5 or lower (AS 1530.2)

Compliance

NCC Compliant for use in Australia under the NCC provisions for pliable building membranes and sarking type materials, when correctly specified and installed
Standard Classified to AS/NZS 4200.1:2017

Fitting notes

Install to AS 4200.2, printed face out, with joints lapped so water runs over them. Being non-reflective it does not need an air gap behind it. Keep it out of contact with wet cement and mortar while the cladding goes on. Store rolls undercover in the pack until you need them.

Common questions

What sizes are stocked and how much does each one cover?

It is stocked in one option, 1500 mm x 30 m. The table above lists the coverage or quantity you get.

What thermal performance does it have?

Emittance: 0.58 printed side, 0.56 white side, IR non-reflective, category NN. Electrical conductivity: Non-conductive.

How does it handle moisture?

Vapour control: Class 4 vapour permeable (ASTM E96). Vapour permeance: 3.7640 µg/N·s. Water control: Water barrier (AS/NZS 4201.4). Dry and wet delamination: Pass (AS/NZS 4201.1 and 4201.2).

Does it meet Australian standards?

Flammability classification: Low, 5 or lower (AS 1530.2). NCC: Compliant for use in Australia under the NCC provisions for pliable building membranes and sarking type materials, when correctly specified and installed. Standard: Classified to AS/NZS 4200.1:2017.

How is it installed?

Install to AS 4200.2, printed face out, with joints lapped so water runs over them. Being non-reflective it does not need an air gap behind it. Keep it out of contact with wet cement and mortar while the cladding goes on. Store rolls undercover in the pack until you need them.
