THOR Foil Fixers (code FF-01) are hammer-driven fixings for holding foil insulation to timber frames, sold by the box of 500. THOR sell them as an economical, non-tear fixing for foil.
Why a fixer rather than staples
Against staples and clouts, THOR point to the large surface area of each fixer, which they say gives a more secure hold. Reduced tearing of the foil is also on their list of advantages.
Timber frames
The fixers are described for timber, and THOR say they are easy to attach to hardwood or pine. Their older product page says the fixers hold foil firmly to timber wall studs. Steel framing is not part of that description, so choose a fixing made for steel on a steel frame.
On site and ordering
Fixing is one hit with a hammer, then a twist of the strip, and the next fixer is ready to drive. Each box holds 500 fixers, made up as 50 strips of 10. Full details are in the table below.
