R4.1 Pink Ceiling Batts are FBS-1 bio-soluble glasswool from Fletcher, Australian made using up to 80% recycled content. R4.1 is a step above the common residential ceiling spec, for colder zones or for a build chasing a higher energy rating.
Fire and bushfire
Non-combustible to AS/NZS 1530.1 and rated for bushfire areas from BAL Low through to Flame Zone under AS 3959. It meets NCC 2022 clause C2D10(1) for non-combustibility, so a BAL rating on the site does not rule it out.
Sizes
Ten batts per pack in both widths at 1160 mm long. The 430 mm covers 4.99 m² per pack and the 580 mm covers 6.73 m². Australian ceiling joists are normally at 450 mm or 600 mm centres and the two widths follow that, but measure your set-out before ordering.
Check the depth
At this R-value the batt is deep enough that the roof space becomes the constraint, particularly near the eaves. Confirm the clear depth across the whole ceiling, not just at the ridge, because a batt crushed at the perimeter is not delivering its rated figure there.
On site
Cuts with a knife and friction fits between the joists. Let the batts recover to full loft first, do not compress them, keep them dry, and keep the clearances downlights and flues require.
Exact batt dimensions, pack quantities, fire indices and compliance detail are in the table below.

Compliance applies when the product is correctly specified and installed.
Fitting notes
Cuts with a knife and friction fits between joists, so it holds without fixings. Keep batts at full loft and let them recover before installing. Do not compress them into the space, because a squashed batt delivers less than its rated R-value. Keep the product dry at all times, before, during and after installation.
