R4.0 Bradford Polymax is a 200 mm polyester ceiling batt, the top of the Polymax ceiling range. Non-irritant, low allergen, up to 50% recycled content.
Check the depth first
At 200 mm this batt needs real clearance above the ceiling, and roof spaces usually pinch at the eaves. A batt crushed at the perimeter is not delivering R4.0 there, so measure the tight spots before ordering rather than the middle of the roof space. If the depth is genuinely limited, a lower R-value fitted at full thickness beats a high one squashed in.
Sizes
Six batts per pack at 1160 mm long. The 430 mm width covers 2.99 m² and the 580 mm covers 4.04 m². Coverage per pack drops as the batts get thicker, so a high R spec means noticeably more packs for the same ceiling area.
Polyester or glasswool
Polymax is the non-irritant option and the easier one to handle over a whole ceiling. Where the job calls specifically for a non-combustible material, the glasswool Gold range is the one carrying that claim, and it runs higher than R4.0 in the HP batts.

Friction fit between the joists, butt the ends, no gaps, no compression, and keep the clearances downlights and flues require.
