Pyrotek Subdue is a multilayered damped noise barrier panel for commercial, rail and marine construction. Two options: Subdue X12 at 12 mm and Subdue M20 at 20 mm, both 2.44 x 1.22 m sheets.
How a damped panel differs from plywood
The construction is two outer layers of marine grade hardwood compliant to BS 1088 with a dense damped viscoelastic core between them. That core is what does the work: it converts panel vibration into heat instead of letting the panel radiate it as sound. The result is noticeably higher transmission loss than plain plywood of the same thickness, which is why a thin Subdue panel can outperform a much thicker conventional one.
Practical notes
Bonded with water resistant glues, Weather and Boil Proof tested to BS 1088, and tested for low formaldehyde emission. It saw-cuts, fabricates and installs with conventional woodworking tools, so no specialist trade is needed.
Where it is used
Commercial, rail and marine work, and anywhere weight savings matter as much as acoustic performance. Preformed cut panels and other constructions are available on request.
