The steel frame equivalent of a cap nail
On timber, a cap nail spreads wind load across a 25 mm polymer cap. On steel, this washer does the same job at the same diameter, driven by a gas tool rather than a hammer. The failure it prevents is the same one: a membrane tearing out around a bare fixing on a windy site.
What you need with them
The GTMA-25W-SN magnetic adaptor holds the washer on the nose of the tool, and Gripshank Supersharpy pins do the fixing.

Fitting notes
Fit the magnetic adaptor to the tool so the washer sits square on the nose. Fix through the framing member, and set spacing from the membrane manufacturer's fixing schedule rather than by eye.

What are these for?

Do I need the magnetic adaptor?
In practice yes. Without it you are holding a washer against a steel stud with one hand and firing with the other, overhead. The GTMA-25W-SN holds the washer square on the tool nose.
