Fletcher Resituff Building Blanket is a light duty roofing blanket for residential metal roofs: 55 mm glasswool with a Material R-value of R1.3, faced on one side with Sisalation Multipurpose LD (431) polyweave reflective foil.
Light duty: check the span
Fletcher's AS 4200.2 duty table allows Resituff on spans up to 900 mm, supported or not, and up to 1200 mm only with safety mesh or similar underneath. An unsupported span over 900 mm, up to 1200 mm, needs the medium duty Permatuff. It suits houses and townhouses, not tiled roofs.
What R1.3 means
R1.3 is the Material R-value of the blanket alone, not a total roof figure. Compression cuts it, so Fletcher recommends a roof spacer where allowable. The foil needs a still air cavity of at least 20 mm to perform thermally. See roofing blanket R-values.
Fire and bushfire
Fletcher states it complies with AS 3959 from BAL-LOW to BAL-40 under metal sheet roofs. The faced blanket cannot be classified to AS 1530.1 as an assembly, so do not use it where non-combustible material is required.
Ordering and fitting
Sold by the roll, 1200 mm wide: 15 m covers 18 m² and 20 m covers 24 m². Allow about 5% for waste on a simple roof. Lay the foil facing inward and lap it at least 150 mm at every side and end join. Keep the rolls dry before, during and after installation, and take care near wiring and luminaires because the foil is electrically conductive. Full figures are in the table below.

Fitting notes
Install to AS 3999:2015 and Fletcher installation guide IG01. Lay the blanket ridge to gutter or parallel to the gutter with the foil facing inward, lap the foil at least 150 mm at every side and end join, and roll each new roll over the lap so the glasswool butts firmly against the last one. Check the roof sheet maker's maximum insulation thickness and leave enough sag for the blanket to recover to its nominal thickness. At the gutter, trim the glasswool at the fascia and let only the foil drape in, about 25 mm on pitches over 10 degrees; on lower pitches fold the foil over the blanket in a bull nose, and never let the glasswool hang into the gutter. Seal tears and openings with Vapastop 883 Reinforced Foil Tape or equivalent, cut with a sharp knife and straight edge rather than power tools, and take care near wiring and luminaires because the foil is electrically conductive.
Figures are taken from the Fletcher Insulation Technical Data Sheet for Resituff, RRTDS1 Revision 0, 10 May 2024, with span selection from the Tuff Building Blanket brochure BR047 Revision 1 (February 2025), fitting notes from installation guide IG01 Revision 4 and warranty terms from the Resituff Consumer 10 Year Warranty, CWAR9 Revision 0. Common questions
Can Resituff go under a tiled roof?
No. Fletcher lists it as not suitable under tiled roofs. It is made for residential metal clad roofs.
What span can the light duty facing handle?
Fletcher's duty table, based on AS 4200.2, allows Resituff on spans up to 900 mm with or without support, and over 900 mm up to 1200 mm only with safety mesh or similar underneath. An unsupported span over 900 mm, up to 1200 mm, needs a medium duty blanket such as Permatuff.
What R-value do I actually get?
R1.3 is the Material R-value of the 55 mm blanket, and Fletcher publishes no total roof figure. Compression reduces it, so Fletcher recommends a roof spacer where allowable, and the foil needs a still air cavity of at least 20 mm to perform thermally.
How much does one roll cover?
Both rolls are 1200 mm wide. The 15 m roll covers 18 m² and the 20 m roll covers 24 m². Fletcher suggests allowing about 5% for waste on simple areas and more on complex ones.
Can I use it where non-combustible material is required?
No. Fletcher says the faced blanket cannot be classified to AS 1530.1 as an assembly. Where non-combustible material is required, Fletcher notes that laying the blanket and the foil separately may comply.
Is it rated for bushfire areas?
Fletcher states it complies with AS 3959 from BAL-LOW to BAL-40 under metal sheet roofs. Fletcher's installation guide says to consult AS 3959 for the install method at each BAL.
Does it stop condensation under the roof sheet?
Fletcher says the reflective polyweave foil aids in minimising the risk of condensation in residential metal roofs. Roof ventilation still has to be installed to the NCC, and the product is not suitable where high humidity is present inside the building.
What warranty comes with it?
Fletcher gives a 10 year consumer product warranty for personal, domestic or household purchases installed to AS 3999 in residential NCC Class 1 buildings. A commercial customer can apply to Fletcher for a job specific warranty statement.
