Bradford Ultratel is the high density rigid glasswool board in the HVAC range, with high compressive strength. Three options at 2400 x 1200 mm covering 2.88 m² each: 50 mm at R1.5, 75 mm at R2.3, and a third size in the table below.
Density is why you would pay for it
Two reasons. It absorbs sound better than a lighter board of the same thickness, which is why it turns up in HVAC silencers and acoustic enclosures. And it resists compression, so it keeps its thickness and its performance where a softer board would crush under handling or airflow.
Where it goes
Internal duct lining, silencers and acoustic enclosures around plant. These are the jobs where the insulation is doing acoustic work under mechanical stress rather than sitting quietly in a cavity.
Against the standard board
Supertel board covers general lining and soffit work across a much wider size range, for less. Ultratel is the one to specify when the compressive strength or the acoustic absorption is the actual requirement, not just the R-value.
Thermal rating declared to AS/NZS 4859.1 by the manufacturer. Sizes and CSR product codes are in the table below.
