Bradford Multitel is a narrow non-combustible glasswool roll made for one job: sealing the ember entry points around the edge of a metal roof. It is 300 mm wide and 25 mm thick, so it packs into the gaps a full width blanket cannot reach.
Where it goes
Gutter lines, hips, valleys and ridges. These are the openings where the roof sheet profile leaves a gap at the end of the run, and in a bushfire those gaps are how embers get into the roof space. Multitel cuts and shapes to follow the sheet profile and closes them off.
What it is rated for
Suitable for BAL 12.5 through to BAL 40 when installed to specification, and deemed non-combustible to AS 1530.1. It does not replace the roofing blanket over the body of the roof, it seals the perimeter. If the whole roof needs a bushfire rating, the blanket under the sheeting has to carry one too. Bradford Anticon is rated from BAL 12.5 through to Flame Zone.
Ordering
Sold by the pack of four 20 m rolls, which comes to 24 m² of material. Because it runs along edges rather than covering an area, work out how many lineal metres of gutter, hip, valley and ridge you have to seal, not the roof area. Each roll gives 20 lineal metres.
For where the perimeter seal sits against the rest of the roof build-up, see Metal roof insulation in Australia. The CSR product code and pack detail are in the table below.
