Bradford Flexitel is the strong flexible glasswool blanket in the HVAC range, with higher tensile strength and density than the lightweight grades. Eleven options from R0.65 at 25 mm up to R2.1 at 75 mm, in plain and heavy duty versions.
Internal or external duct lining
This is the grade rated for use as commercial rigid duct lining on either face. That matters, because an internal lining has moving air against it continuously and a blanket that is not built for it will not hold up. The heavy duty options are for the harder end of that.
Fan noise is the other half of the job
A lined duct is quieter than a bare one. In a commercial system the fan noise that travels down the duct and out of the diffuser is often the complaint people actually make, ahead of anything thermal. Lining is the usual answer.
Choosing a grade
Where the blanket is just being wrapped around the outside of a duct and left alone, the lighter Multitel covers it for less. Where it is lining, handled, or exposed, Flexitel is the grade.
Thermal rating declared to AS/NZS 4859.1 by the manufacturer. All eleven options are in the table below.
