AIR-CELL Insulwhite is an Australian made closed cell foam blanket with a reflective foil face on one side and a white face on the other, made for exposed roof and attic linings. CodeMark certified for NCC compliance.
The white face is why it exists
In a space where the underside of the roof is visible, a bright foil finish looks unfinished and glares. The white face gives a clean surface that also lifts the light level, while the reflective face works upward against the air gap under the sheeting. Kingspan quotes 97% reflectance on the reflective face with an emittance of 0.03.
System figures
Material R-value is R0.15, which is the reflective product story again: the number that matters is what the system reaches. In a residential metal roof Kingspan quotes RT 1.9 for heat flowing in and RT 1.0 for heat flowing out.
Barrier performance
Class 2 vapour barrier and a water barrier to AS/NZS 4201.4, with low surface water absorbency. Flammability index 5 or lower. Burst strength 1.0 kN and a maximum unsupported span of 2.4 m.
Roll
1350 mm x 22.25 m covering 30 m² at 5.5 mm thick, weighing 7.65 kg. Fibre-free, non-allergenic, non-irritant, and rodent and insect resistant.

Fitting notes
Made for jobs where the underside stays in view, such as an attic conversion or a raked ceiling, so the white face goes inwards and becomes the finish. Roll it out under the rafters and fix with 25 mm button head timber screws with a white painted head and at least a 12 mm head diameter. Use four screws across the width at each rafter, one 25 mm in from each edge and the other two around 430 mm apart. Butt join and tape with white 72 mm tape for the neatest result, or lap 50 mm and tape. Keep 100 mm clear of flues and light fittings.
