Trade Select CeaseFire is a vapour permeable wall wrap and sarking built from a single layer of non-combustible E-glass fabric infused with a hydrophobic treatment. 1500 mm x 30 m covering 45 m² at 0.17 mm.

The rare combination

Most membranes make you choose between fire performance and breathability. CeaseFire is NCC Group 1, its E-glass component is not deemed combustible to AS 1530.1, flammability index is 1, and it is still Class 4 vapour permeable at 1.5767 µg/N·s. That means a wall on a fire rated job can still dry outward instead of being sealed up.

Duty and strength

Extra Heavy duty to AS/NZS 4200.1:2017. Tensile strength 24 kN/m machine direction against a 13.0 minimum, edge tear 326 N against a 90 minimum, and 0.0% shrinkage.

Non-reflective

Emittance 0.90 on both faces, category NN, and non-conductive. It does not need an air gap to perform and it does not carry the electrical risk a foil wrap does.

Against FireSark

FireSark is the reflective, vapour barrier answer for bushfire areas. CeaseFire is the breathable, non-reflective one. Which is right depends on whether the wall needs to dry outward or needs a vapour barrier.

Sizes stocked

Roll sizeArea per rollNominal thickness

Fire

Group number Group 1 (AS 5637.1)
Combustibility Not deemed combustible, E-glass component (AS 1530.1)
Flammability index 1, Low (AS 1530.2)
Ignitability index 0
Spread of flame index 0
Heat evolved index 0
Smoke developed index 2

Group 1 is the top lining classification in the NCC, which is what lets this membrane stay exposed where lesser wraps cannot.

Moisture and air control

Vapour control Class 4 vapour permeable (ASTM E96)
Vapour permeance 1.5767 µg/N·s
Water control Water barrier (AS/NZS 4201.4)
Air control Air barrier (ISO 6536/5)

A polymer infusion makes the fabric hydrophobic, so liquid water and air are stopped while vapour still passes. That combination is what makes it work as a breathable wrap on a fire rated build.

Shrinkage 0.0%, well inside the 0.5% limit

Build-up

Construction Single layer of non-combustible E-glass fabric, infused with a hydrophobic flame and chemical resistant polymer

Fitting notes

Install to AS 4200.2. It is non-reflective, so it does not need an air gap and can sit against the frame. Being a single impregnated fabric it has no laminate to peel, which is why it takes rough site handling better than most wraps at this thickness. Lap the joints so water sheds over them.

Figures are taken from the Ametalin technical data sheet for CeaseFire, document APM-45762-0. The full manufacturer document is linked above. Ametalin can change specifications without notice, so check the current sheet before specifying on a job.

Common questions

What sizes are stocked and how much does each one cover?

It is stocked in one option, 1500 mm x 30 m. The table above lists the coverage or quantity you get.

What thermal performance does it have?

Emittance: 0.90 grey side, 0.90 printed side, IR non-reflective, category NN. Electrical conductivity: Non-conductive.

How does it perform in a fire?

Combustibility: Not deemed combustible, E-glass component (AS 1530.1). Ignitability index: 0. Spread of flame index: 0. Heat evolved index: 0. Smoke developed index: 2.

How does it handle moisture?

Vapour control: Class 4 vapour permeable (ASTM E96). Vapour permeance: 1.5767 µg/N·s. Water control: Water barrier (AS/NZS 4201.4). Dry and wet delamination: Pass (AS/NZS 4201.1 and 4201.2).

How is it installed?
