Roof Bloc 300 is Australian made galvanised roof safety mesh, 300 mm by 150 mm aperture, designed to comply with AS/NZS 4389:2015 and tested to Appendix A of that standard by a NATA accredited laboratory. It goes across the purlins or battens and is fixed down before the roof sheets, so it is in place while anyone is still working above the ceiling.

What it is for

The primary job is fall protection for people working on a steel or timber framed roof. The secondary job is supporting synthetic underlay in enclosed roof spaces and foil underlay in exposed ones. It can also support insulation, but check the intended use with the insulation manufacturer first, because not every product is meant to be carried on mesh. Roof safety mesh: when is it required covers where mesh is the right control and what the standard actually specifies.

Specification

Wire is 2.0 mm, galvanised to AS/NZS 4534:2006 W02, with line wires at 500 MPa minimum tensile and cross wires at 450 MPa minimum. Longitudinal wires run at 150 mm centres, cross wires at 300 mm.

Sizes

Three stock widths, all 50 m rolls: 1800 mm covering 90 m², 2250 mm covering 112.5 m² and 2400 mm covering 120 m². The 900 mm and 1200 mm widths are made to special order, and cut to length rolls are available, so ask if your run does not divide neatly.

Limits worth knowing before you order

Not recommended for coastal or seashore sites, or buildings with a high internal moisture load. It is rated for fall protection and underlay support, not as a structural element. Compliance holds only while the mesh is undamaged and installed to the written instructions, by or under the supervision of a licensed builder, so do not use mesh that has been kinked or cut in transit.
