ProctorWrap CW is a Class 4 vapour permeable commercial wall wrap, a three layer spun bonded polyolefin membrane thermally calendared together. 1500 mm x 50 m covering 75 m², in plain and CW-IT integrated tape versions.

System R-values, not just a membrane figure

Proctor quotes total system values for common build-ups: RT 3.0 summer and 3.2 winter in a brick veneer wall, RT 2.8 and 3.1 in battened lightweight cladding, and RT 2.6 and 2.9 direct fixed. Those numbers show how much the build-up around the wrap matters compared with the wrap itself.

Where it suits, and where it does not

Recommended for warm to cold climate zones, and specifically not recommended in tropical zones where the outside air is more humid than inside. A vapour permeable wrap works by letting moisture move in the drier direction, so if the humidity gradient runs the other way the logic reverses. Worth checking before specifying it on a northern job.

Handling

It is not made to take prolonged UV or weather, so get the cladding on as soon as practical. Store it cool, dry, out of sunlight and away from wet concrete and alkaline materials. Burst strength 200 N or more, shrinkage 0.5% or lower.

Bushfire

Suitable for BAL 12.5 through to Flame Zone under AS 3959, flammability index 5 or lower.

Classification

Duty Light Wall (AS/NZS 4200.1)
Vapour control Class 4 vapour permeable (ASTM E96)
Vapour permeability Over 1.1403 µg/N·s
Water control Water barrier (AS/NZS 4201.4)
Emissivity 0.9 both faces, non-reflective (AS 4201.5)
Electrical conductivity Non-conductive (AS/NZS 3100)

This wrap gives no reflective R-value. It is doing the weather and vapour job, and the bulk insulation does the thermal work.

Limits of use

Climate Warm to cold climate zones. Not recommended in tropical zones where outside humidity is higher than inside
Direction of drive Recommended where humidity is higher inside the building than outside
Exposure Not made to take prolonged UV or weather, so get the cladding on as soon as you can
Storage Keep cool, dry and out of sunlight, away from wet concrete and alkaline materials

Condensation risk depends on climate, building use, insulation thickness, vapour barrier position and ventilation. Bradford recommends a condensation risk analysis rather than a rule of thumb, and refers designers to the ABCB handbook on condensation in buildings.

Fitting notes

Install to AS 4200.2, behind commercial or residential brick veneer and lightweight clad walls. Lap the runs so water sheds over the joint, and tape the laps if you want the air barrier performance as well. The CW-IT version has the tape already on it, which saves a step on a big elevation. Get the cladding on quickly, since this is not a product to leave exposed for weeks.

Common questions

What sizes are stocked and how much does each one cover?

2 options are stocked, running from Enviroseal CW to Enviroseal CW-IT. The table above lists each one with the coverage or quantity you get.

What thermal performance does it have?

Electrical conductivity: Non-conductive (AS/NZS 3100).

Can it be used in a bushfire area?

Bushfire areas: Suitable for BAL 12.5 through to Flame Zone (AS 3959).

How does it handle moisture?

Vapour control: Class 4 vapour permeable (ASTM E96). Vapour permeability: Over 1.1403 µg/N·s. Water control: Water barrier (AS/NZS 4201.4). Dry and wet delamination: Pass (AS/NZS 4201.1 and 4201.2).

How is it installed?

Install to AS 4200.2, behind commercial or residential brick veneer and lightweight clad walls.
