Bradford Rockwool Fireseal party wall batts are non-combustible stone wool, 100 mm thick, cut 1200 x 168 mm and packed 5 to a pack. They seal the vertical joints in Class 1 party walls.
What a party wall joint has to do
In attached housing the party wall is the fire separation between two dwellings. The joints in that wall are the weak point, and a joint packed with combustible material or left with a void does not maintain the separation the wall was designed for. Non-combustible stone wool holds its form and its integrity under heat, which is what keeps the joint doing its job.
It also does thermal work
A sealed party wall joint is a sealed acoustic and thermal path as well, so this is not only a fire detail. That is a side benefit rather than the reason to specify it.
