Ametalin DtS Non-combustible Insulation Flashing Tape is a 150 mm wide self-adhering membrane made from non-combustible aluminium foil bonded to non-combustible E-glass fabric, with a thick solvent acrylic adhesive and a split release liner. 25 m roll.
Made for the details a fire rated wall gets judged on
Type A and B constructions are usually well specified across the wall face and then let down at the openings. This is the flashing tape for those transitions: around windows and doors, at penetrations, and where a wall wrap changes plane or meets another material. The backing meets the NCC Volume One non-combustible material provisions, so the detail does not become the weak point in a Deemed-to-Satisfy claim.
The split liner is not a minor feature
A 150 mm tape at a window reveal has to go on in two planes. The split liner lets you release half the width, set the line, then peel the rest and work it into the return. Trying to do that with a full width liner on a 150 mm tape is how creases and gaps start.
Performance
Service range minus 30 to plus 120 degrees. Vapour sealing and puncture resistant, with a solvent acrylic adhesive chosen so it stays flexible at both ends of the range and does not harden with age. Ametalin also flag it for high wind areas, where the sustained load on a lap is the thing that pulls a lesser tape off.
On site
Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of oil. Work the tape down over its full width so there is no air trapped in the return.

Fitting notes
Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of oil and other contaminants. Use the split liner to set the line first, then release the remainder and work the tape into the return so no air is trapped. Press the full width down firmly. Store in a clean dry place out of direct sunlight.

Common questions
Where is this tape used?
At the details, not across the sheet. Window and door reveals, penetrations, and transitions in an exterior wall where the wall wrap or sarking has to be sealed and the construction is fire rated.
Is the tape itself non-combustible?
The backing is Deemed-to-Satisfy non-combustible and meets NCC Volume One C2D10(6)(g)(i to iii). That is a classification for the tape, not a fire rating for the wall it goes into.
What is a split liner and why does it matter?
The release liner is cut down the middle, so at a 150 mm width you can release one half, position the tape accurately, then peel the second half into the return. It is the difference between a flat flashing and a creased one.
Can I use ordinary foil tape instead?
Not where non-combustible material is required. A standard foil tape has a polymer carrier. This one uses E-glass fabric, which is what carries the non-combustible classification.
How much does one roll do?
25 m of 150 mm flashing. A typical house window takes roughly 5 to 6 m once the sill, jambs and head are wrapped, so plan on four or five openings per roll.
Will it harden and let go over time?
Ametalin state it will not delaminate or harden with age, and the solvent acrylic adhesive holds from minus 30 to plus 120 degrees.
