An unsupported span over 900 mm, up to 1200 mm, needs the medium duty Permatuff. It suits houses and townhouses, not tiled roofs.

What R1.3 means

R1.3 is the Material R-value of the blanket alone, not a total roof figure. Compression cuts it, so Fletcher recommends a roof spacer where allowable. The foil needs a still air cavity of at least 20 mm to perform thermally. See roofing blanket R-values.

Fire and bushfire

Fletcher states it complies with AS 3959 from BAL-LOW to BAL-40 under metal sheet roofs. The faced blanket cannot be classified to AS 1530.1 as an assembly, so do not use it where non-combustible material is required.

Ordering and fitting

Sold by the roll, 1200 mm wide: 15 m covers 18 m² and 20 m covers 24 m². Allow about 5% for waste on a simple roof. Lay the foil facing inward and lap it at least 150 mm at every side and end join. Keep the rolls dry before, during and after installation, and take care near wiring and luminaires because the foil is electrically conductive.
